All Souls at 200

I am the principal author and overall editor of All Souls at 200, a 400-page illustrated history of the Unitarian Church of All Souls in New York City.  From humble beginnings in a downtown parlor, All Souls rose to become a flagship church of Unitarian Universalism.  Initially, it faced outright scorn from the city's more doctrinaire Christian churches, but its liberal theology eventually attracted some of New York's most prominent intellectuals, business leaders and civic reformers.  All Souls and its members played key roles in the Civil War, the creation of Central Park and the founding of the Metropolitan Museum of Art.  My co-authors -- Bill Bechman, Lois Coleman, Carolyn Jackson, Eileen Macholl and Rachel Rosenthal -- and I produced this book as a year-long, unpaid labor of love for All Souls' bicentennial celebration. It was published by All Souls in 2019 and is available on Amazon.
